titleOfInvention Dose control of drug delivery system
abstract Disclosed is a method of injecting a drug to maintain or quickly adjust the level of anesthesia in a patient. A method for delivering an intravenous drug to a patient includes: programming a drug maintenance rate or load into a drug delivery system including a controller and an infusion pump; and (a) based on the maintenance rate in the drug delivery system. The loading amount, or the maintenance rate based on the loading amount, is calculated, (b) the loading dose of drug is administered to the patient to quickly achieve the desired level of effect, and (c) the desired level of effect.
