titleOfInvention | Ophthalmic clips and associated surgical procedures |
abstract | Disclosed are methods and clips for treating presbyopia and / or open-angle glaucoma that support or reinforce the sclera while substantially maintaining the spatial interrelationship between the ciliary muscle and the lens. The method includes the step of making an incision in the conjunctiva to obtain an access path to the sclera overlying the ciliary muscle. The tenon sac is moved laterally to expose the sclera, creating opposing shallow pockets in the sclera. A clip or series of clips is provided with two opposing feet, which are inserted into opposing pockets of the sclera. Slide the Tenon's capsule over the clip and close the conjunctiva.
