titleOfInvention Fluorescent light emitting display
abstract Disclosed is a fluorescent display device having a bipolar tube structure in which no discharge trace is generated on an electrode. A fluorescent light emitting display device includes a vacuum hermetic container 4 in which an anode substrate 2 and a cathode substrate 3 face each other. On the inner surface of the cathode substrate, there is a cathode comprising a frame-like cathode electrode 5 having an opening 6 and a carbon material layer 7 provided in the opening over the inner edge of the cathode electrode. There is an anode having an anode electrode 8 and a phosphor layer 9 on the inner surface of the anode substrate. The phosphor layer faces the carbon material at a portion inside the opening of the cathode electrode. Since the resistance between the carbon material layer and the cathode electrode is appropriate and the phosphor layer is inside the cathode electrode, discharge traces are not easily generated between the anode and the cathode, and the display quality is unlikely to deteriorate.
