titleOfInvention | Improved Latham Bowl and Method of Use |
abstract | An object of the present invention is to improve a conventional Latham bowl and to obtain a preparation with less leukocyte contamination when platelets are collected by an existing intermittent blood flow-centrifugation method. A rotor portion having a frustoconical body adapted to rotate about an axis of rotation and a core concentrically disposed within the body and defining an annular chamber therebetween. A stator portion having an inlet port concentrically introduced to the bottom of the main body, an outlet port for leading out the fluid separated in the annular chamber from the upper portion of the main body, and a rotary seal connecting the rotor portion and the stator portion. The centripetal inner wall is defined by a lower annular wall defined by a lower annular wall extending axially inwardly from the bottom of the annular chamber and an upper annular wall extending axially inwardly downward from the upper part of the annular chamber. An improved Latham bowl, characterized in that a flow path from the annular chamber to the outlet port extends between the wall and the upper annular wall. [Selection] Figure 14 |
