An image forming method capable of obtaining a printed matter having excellent curability against light emitting diode (LED) light and having good scratch resistance, solvent resistance, and other adhesive properties, and the image forming method. A step of printing an image by discharging an ink composition for ink jet printing of an active energy ray curable type onto a recording material, and an activity having a wavelength peak in the range of 365 to 420 nm using a light emitting diode (LED). Curing the image by irradiating energy rays, and the active energy ray-curable ink composition for inkjet printing includes a vinyl ether compound, a diallyl phthalate prepolymer, a cationic polymerization initiator, and a wavelength of 400 nm or more. A sensitizer that exhibits a sensitization function by the light of the above, and containing 10 to 25% by mass of the diallyl phthalate prepolymer in the active energy ray-curable ink composition for inkjet printing.
