A method for producing an imide resin according to the present invention is a method for producing an imide resin in which an imidization reaction and an esterification reaction are continuously carried out in a single twin-screw extruder. It is characterized by having more than one reaction part. By proceeding with the reaction stepwise through the reaction section divided into two or more parts, the proportion of the generated amount in the extruder can be reduced and the pulsation in the extruder can be reduced.
