abstract | An isonitrile compound is produced using a single reaction apparatus without using a metal reagent from an alcohol as a raw material. (A) A first tertiary amine is added to a reaction solution containing an N-substituted formamide obtained by reacting an alcohol and trimethylsilylcyanide in the presence of a Bronsted acid to neutralize the reaction solution. And a step of obtaining a stirrable reaction mixture, and (B) adding a second tertiary amine and a sulfonic acid halide to the reaction mixture obtained in the previous step, to produce isonitrile.
