abstract | A method for efficiently producing a high-purity higher alcohol crotonic acid ester is provided. A higher alcohol crotonic acid ester obtained by subjecting crotonic acid and a higher monohydric alcohol having 6 to 20 carbon atoms to a dehydration reaction in an aromatic hydrocarbon organic solvent or a halogen organic solvent in the presence of an acid catalyst. A manufacturing method is provided. As one of preferred embodiments, water generated by the above dehydration reaction is removed azeotropically with an aromatic hydrocarbon organic solvent by a distillation column.
