abstract A method for microbiologically producing α-hydroxyacylpyridine is provided. An α-hydroxyacylpyridine is produced microbiologically from an acylpyridine by producing a significant amount of α-hydroxyacylpyridine from the acylpyridine and allowing a microorganism having the ability to accumulate or a treated product thereof to act. As the microorganism, for example, a microorganism belonging to the genus Crabtorella, Delftia, Pseudomonas, or Comamonas can be used, and α-hydroxyacylpyridine can be produced.
