titleOfInvention Sugar alcohol derivative and process for producing alkenyl group-containing sugar alcohol derivative
abstract [PROBLEMS] To efficiently produce pentitol diketals or heptitol triketals, sugar alcohols such as unreacted pentitol and unreacted heptitol, pentitol monoketals, heptitol monoketals, and heptitol diketals. Of a non-ketalized compound and a method for reducing the formation of impurities such as a dimer. SOLUTION: At least one of pentitol and heptitol has 2,2-dimethoxypropane in an amount of 1.2 to 1.5 times the theoretical equivalent, and an acid catalyst in an amount of 5 with respect to the total amount of pentitol and heptitol. A sugar alcohol comprising at least one of a pentitol diketal having one hydroxyl group and a heptitol triketal having one hydroxyl group is obtained by reaction using × 10 −6 to 5 × 10 −4 mol%.
