abstract An electrode material capable of maintaining and improving oxidation-reduction characteristics without using an expensive noble metal catalyst such as platinum, a manufacturing method thereof, an electrochemical sensor, and an electrode for a fuel cell are provided. SOLUTION: Using glassy carbon as a working electrode, a platinum wire as a counter electrode, and a silver-silver chloride electrode as a reference electrode, 0.1 M ammonium carbamate for 1 hour at a constant potential between 0.8 V and 1.3 V. The aqueous solution was electrolytically oxidized. As a result, a carbon material having an amino group covalently bonded to the surface of glassy carbon was obtained. Next, this carbon material was immersed in copper sulfate to carry copper ions on the surface thereof to obtain an electrode material. [Selection figure] None
