abstract | An optical compensation film that contributes to an increase in viewing angle of a liquid crystal display device and a reduction in tint depending on the viewing angle, and that can be manufactured easily and at low cost. A first optical anisotropic layer (10) satisfying nx>ny> nz, a second optical anisotropic layer (12) having liquid crystal alignment ability and satisfying nx ≧ ny> nz, and An optical compensation film having a third optically anisotropic layer (14) containing a liquid crystalline compound fixed in an aligned state in this order. However, nx, ny, and nz are respectively the maximum refractive index in the film plane, the refractive index in the direction orthogonal to the direction giving the maximum refractive index, and the film plane method in each of the optically anisotropic layers.
