abstract | A heat-sensitive recording material having good chemical resistance, sticking property, and water resistance is provided. A heat-sensitive recording layer comprising an electron-donating compound that reacts with an electron-donating usually colorless or light-colored dye precursor on heating on a support to develop a color of the dye precursor, and the heat-sensitive recording layer A heat-sensitive recording material having at least one protective layer thereon, wherein the protective layer contains silanol-modified polyvinyl alcohol, cationic colloidal silica, and a lubricant. Preferably, one type of lubricant contained in the protective layer is polyolefin particles. Alternatively, the heat-sensitive recording material, wherein the polyolefin particles contained in the protective layer have a volume average particle diameter measured by a Coulter counter method of 2 to 3 μm.
