An industrially advantageous method for producing a fluoroiodoalkane compound is provided. The formula: CF 3 (CF 2 ) n —Y (wherein n is 0 or 1 and Y is selected from the group consisting of H, Cl, Br and COOH). A compound and an iodine source are reacted in the presence of an element having a d 1 s 1 configuration, a catalyst containing a lanthanide element, and an oxygen source. [Selection figure] None |
