abstract | Disclosed are a liquid crystal aligning agent that provides a liquid crystal aligning film that is not easily affected by solvent cleaning and that has excellent liquid crystal alignment properties and good electrical characteristics, and a liquid crystal display element having high-quality display characteristics. A liquid crystal aligning agent is a polymer obtained by reacting (A) a tetracarboxylic dianhydride with a specific diamine typified by 1- (3,5-diaminophenyl) -3-octadecylsuccinimide. And / or an imidized polymer thereof and (B) a compound having two or more epoxy groups in the molecule.
