abstract | The present invention provides a rubber composition that includes a silica as a reinforcing filler and provides a pneumatic tire that exhibits excellent fuel efficiency and excellent steering stability. SOLUTION: (A) A rubber component composed of natural rubber and / or a diene synthetic rubber and 100 parts by mass thereof, (B) 20 to 100 parts by mass of silica, and (C) a specific surface area of nitrogen adsorption method (N 2 (SA) is 200 to 300 m 2 / g and dibutyl phthalate oil absorption is 80 to 140 mL / 100 g, and includes 5 to 40 parts by mass of carbon black, and (D) a specific structure such as acylthioalkyltrialkoxysilane. It is a rubber composition which contains the silane coupling agent which consists of protected mercaptosilane in the ratio of 5-50 mass% with respect to the silica of the said (B) component.
