abstract The present invention relates to an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, in an internal combustion engine having a plurality of NOx adsorbents having a function of adsorbing NOx on an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine. The purpose is to realize the arrangement. A main exhaust passage 14 through which exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine 10 flows is provided. A bypass passage 20 that bypasses the main exhaust passage 14 is provided. The bypass passage includes a first NOx adsorbent 24 in which iron Fe is supported on zeolite and a second NOx adsorbent 26 in which palladium Pd is supported on cerium oxide CeO 2 .
