abstract |
The present invention provides a diagnostic imaging contrast agent that exhibits improved blood retention. The agent can be targeted to the blood pool or any other biological component. Since this drug is not lost rapidly from the bloodstream, smaller doses can be used with higher safety limits. Accordingly, it is an object to provide a diagnostic imaging contrast agent that exhibits improved blood retention. The present invention provides: a) Image enhancement part (IEM); b) a plasma protein binding moiety (PPBM); and c) a blood half-life extending moiety (BHEM), Contrast agent for diagnostic imaging containing At least about 10% binding to plasma protein, and in rat plasma pharmacokinetic experiments at least about 20% greater plasma concentration vs. 0-10 minutes than observed for the combination of IEM and PPBM alone without BHEM A contrast agent is provided that demonstrates the area under the time curve.
