abstract A method for mass production of useful proteins by a viral vector-silkworm expression system. In a baculovirus vector expression system, it was hypothesized that suppression of virus growth by antiviral activity of insects may lead to a decrease in high expression of expressed protein. A transgenic silkworm that knocks down AVP that exhibits antiviral activity is prepared, and a baculovirus (silkworm Bombyx mori NPV (BmNPV) or hybrid NPV (HyNPV)) that is commonly used as a vector for high protein expression in this silkworm is used as a vector. Useful proteins were expressed. The protein expression level in the AVP gene knockdown silkworm increased more than 3 times compared to the control silkworm. [Selection figure] None
