The present invention provides an ink jet recording medium having high print density, gloss and ink absorbability, and good folding resistance of an ink receiving layer. In an ink jet recording medium, an ink receiving layer comprising inorganic fine particles, a hydrophilic binder, a crosslinking agent, and a water-soluble polyvalent metal salt is formed on a non-water-absorbing support. Between the non-water-absorbing support and the ink receiving layer, an intermediate layer containing a resin having a solid fine particle content of 20% by mass or less and a glass transition temperature of 50 ° C. or less is provided.
