PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose ester fiber having a good color tone with reduced odor by reducing free carboxylic acid such as acetic acid and propionic acid. SOLUTION: A free carboxylic acid is 35 ppm or less, a cellulose ester whose main chain is an acyl group having 3 to 19 carbon atoms, and has a specific surface area of 0.01 to 1.0 m 2 /.
