Disclosed are a polycarbonate resin for an optical film and an optical film that can be industrially produced and have a low birefringence, a high transparency, and a high glass transition temperature. Two components, 99-51 mol% of 9,9-bis (4- (2-hydroxyethoxy) phenyl) fluorene represented by the formula (1) and 1-49 mol% of bisphenol A, A polycarbonate resin for an optical film formed by carbonate bonding with a carbonic acid diester, and an optical film made of the resin.
