PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction transmission belt that is excellent in power transmission and silence during both dry running and wet running, and that can maintain its effect over a long period of time, and a method for manufacturing the friction transmission belt. . SOLUTION: In a V-ribbed belt 1 made of an elastic layer including a rubber layer in which a core wire 2 is embedded along the belt longitudinal direction, a rib portion 6 serving as a friction transmission surface is added to 100 parts by weight of an ethylene / α-olefin elastomer.
