abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polysiloxane in a side chain which is excellent in corrosion resistance, friction resistance, water resistance, solvent resistance, light resistance, low temperature curability and can obtain a colorless transparent surface coating film when a metal surface is coated. A polymer having a chain is obtained. In the method for producing a polymer having a hydrolyzable silyl group in the side chain of the present invention, the following formula (I): [Chemical 1] (In the formula, R 1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, R 2 represents an alkylene group having 2 to 6 carbon atoms, R 3 and R 4 represent an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms. An unsaturated carboxylic acid ester having a hydrolyzable silyl group represented by C 2-4 alkylene glycol mono C 1-3 alkyl ether in the presence of a non-azo radical polymerization initiator.
