abstract | An image forming apparatus and an image forming method in which a ghost image in a halftone is hardly generated by detecting occurrence of a ghost image in a halftone and correcting an image forming condition. A charging unit that uniformly charges an image carrier, a latent image forming unit that forms a latent image on the uniformly charged image carrier, and a developing unit that develops the latent image using toner. In the electrophotographic image forming apparatus having transfer means for transferring the development by the toner on the image carrier to the transfer target, the image forming apparatus includes detection means and correction means for detecting occurrence of a ghost image on the image carrier. And detecting at least one of the surface potential difference of the image carrier or the difference in toner adhesion amount by the detecting means to detect the occurrence of the ghost image in the halftone and confirm the presence or absence of the ghost image. The image forming condition of the image carrier is corrected based on the image forming result. [Selection] Figure 1 |
