Process for producing olefin polymer |
abstract |
[Objective] To produce an olefin polymer having a wide molecular weight distribution with excellent moldability by controlling the molecular weight distribution. In the polymerization or copolymerization of ethylene in the presence of hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst comprising a transition metal compound (a) and a modified clay (b) obtained by treating a transition metal compound (a) and clay with an acid, an inorganic salt or an organic compound. The molar ratio of hydrogen to the amount of ethylene produced is changed at least once within one batch of polymerization time in batch polymerization and within an average residence time in continuous polymerization.
