abstract | A linear illumination device capable of increasing the amount of light from a slit is provided. Since a light incident surface 17a of a lens 17 is at the same position as an inner surface 6 of a hollow portion 2, light L irradiated from the LED 20 into the hollow portion 2 is taken in from the light incident surface 17a of the lens 17. The amount of light that passes through the lens 17 and is irradiated to the outside increases. When the light incident surface 17a of the lens 17 protrudes to the inside of the hollow portion 2 from the inner surface 6 of the hollow portion 2, the amount of light that is transmitted to the outside through the lens 17 is further increased.
