An internal combustion engine is started while properly outputting power required by a drive shaft when the power output by an electric motor is shifted by a transmission transmission means and transmitted to a drive shaft. In a hybrid vehicle 20, a clutch C0 is disengaged to stop an engine 22, both motors MG1 and MG2 are connected to a drive shaft 67, and power is output to at least one of the motors MG1 and MG2. When the engine 22 is started when the engine 22 is running, power is transferred between the motors MG1 and MG2, the connection between one of the motors MG1 and MG2 and the drive shaft 67 by the transmission 60 is released, and the connection with the drive shaft 67 is established. The rotational speed of one of the released motors MG1 and MG2 is adjusted so that the drive source element can be connected, and the clutch C0 is connected and the engine 22 is cranked by the motor MG1 or MG2.
