Purification of adenovirus and AAV |
abstract |
A method for the purification of large quantities of active (infectious) adenovirus and AAV for use in therapeutic applications. In such a manner that adenovirus-infected cells are lysed and any damage to the virus, in particular to the surface components of the virus, resulting from contact with the chromatographic material is minimized or eliminated. An improved method for contacting the virus with a suitable chromatographic material. The result is a rapid and effective purification of commercially available quantities of active (infectious) virus suitable for use in therapeutic applications such as gene transfer / therapeutic treatments.
