abstract | Disclosed is an electrolytic solution for an electric double layer capacitor, which has excellent impregnation into electrodes and separators, low viscosity, high electrical conductivity, a wide potential window, and excellent electrochemical stability. An electric double layer capacitor using a liquid, having a high capacity and low internal resistance in a wide temperature range, particularly in a low temperature range, and exhibiting excellent withstand voltage characteristics. A modified polysiloxane derivative is added to an electrolytic solution for an electric double layer capacitor containing a quaternary ammonium salt as an electrolyte in a solvent. By adding the additive, the impregnation property of the electrode and separator of the electric double layer capacitor is improved, low viscosity and high electrical conductivity are exhibited, and a wide potential window and high electrochemical stability are exhibited.
