abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external composition excellent in safety, imparting wettability to skin, easy to wash away, imparting flexibility and wettability to hair, having good stability even at low temperatures and causing no separation. To do. [Means for Solving the Problems] It is an external composition containing the component (A) which consists of 1 type, or 2 or more types of the compound shown by General formula (1) as an essential component. [Chemical 6] In the formula, R 1 is an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms; X and Y are a hydrogen atom or an acyl group represented by —CO—R 2 , and R 2 is 1 to 30 carbon atoms.
