abstract An object of the present invention is to provide a pigment additive effective for pigment dispersion and long-term storage during preparation of ink, paint, etc., and a pigment composition containing the same. [Solution] A pigment additive having an 8-amino-quinoline structure. The pigment additive is, for example, a compound obtained by reacting 8-amino-2-methylquinoline, phthalic anhydride which may have a substituent and benzoic acid which may have a substituent. . By adding the pigment additive to a yellow pigment, a green pigment, a red pigment, or the like, a pigment dispersion that improves aggregation at the time of pigment dispersion and has good temporal stability can be obtained.
