PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a functional particle by forming a coating layer composed of a shell particle on the surface of a core particle, having a uniform shape, a moderately reduced diameter, a narrow particle size distribution, and a small characteristic variation Provided is a method for producing particles with high yield. Functional particles are produced by a production method including an agglomeration step S11, a pressure reduction step S12, and a cooling step S13. In the aggregation step S11, an aqueous slurry containing core particles and shell particles is flowed through a coiled pipe in a heated and pressurized state, and shell particles are adhered to the surface of the core particles to obtain functional particles. In the decompression step S12, the particle size of the functional particles is adjusted and the coarse particles are crushed to make the particle size of the functional particles uniform.
