Process for surface modification of polymer substrate and polymer formed from the process |
abstract |
A silicone intraocular lens having a surface made by modifying the surface of a polymer substrate to provide a semi-interpenetrating polymer network. SOLUTION: a. Causing the silicone intraocular lens surface to absorb the swellable monomer to swell the intraocular lens; b. Allowing the swellable monomer to penetrate the surface of the silicone intraocular lens; c. Polymerizing the swellable monomer for a period of time to form a semi-interpenetrating network at the surface of the silicone intraocular lens; d. The intraocular lens comprising removing the silicone intraocular lens from the swellable monomer after a certain period of time, which can be used to enhance the ability of a surface modifier such as heparin to adhere to the surface of the polymer. Useful in. [Selection figure] None |
