abstract | The present invention provides a color correction dye excellent in color developability, fixability, fastness, and blackness. A dye represented by the general formula (I) satisfying one or both of the following conditions. Condition 1: R 1 and R 1 ′ are H, an ionic hydrophilic group, and a substituent having no OH group. Condition 2: The absolute value of the difference between λmax (DMF) and λmax (water) is 50 nm or less. In the formula, Ar 1 and Ar 1 ′ each represent a monovalent aromatic carbocycle, and Ar 2 , Ar 2 ′, Ar 3, and Ar 3 ′ each represent a divalent aromatic carbocyclic linking group. Here, at least one of Ar 1 to Ar 3 and at least one of Ar 1 ′ to Ar 3 ′ represents a naphthalene ring. A is a dialkylamino group or the like which may have a substituent, Q represents a divalent or higher valent linking group, and q represents an integer greater than or equal to 2.
