abstract |
[PROBLEMS] To form a dinitrotoluene by reacting toluene and nitric acid in the presence of sulfuric acid, and a high selectivity for DNT together with a high toluene conversion rate, and a high and selective utilization of nitric acid supplied directly to the reaction stage. Is possible with simple plant adjustments. (1) the mass ratio of aqueous phase to organic phase in the mononitration step is higher than 2: 1; (2) the organic phase is dispersed in the acid-containing aqueous phase in each nitration reaction; and (3) The amount of nitric acid used per mole of toluene is solved by a two-stage nitration process for the production of dinitrotoluene that is less than 2.06 moles.
