abstract |
Provided is a production method suitable for large-scale production of an optically active 2-fluoroalcohol derivative, which is an important intermediate between pharmaceuticals and optical materials. An optically active α-hydroxycarboxylic acid ester derivative is reacted with sulfuryl fluoride in the presence of an organic base or in the presence of an organic base and a “salt or complex comprising an organic base and hydrogen fluoride”. Then, the obtained optically active α-fluorocarboxylic acid ester derivative is reacted with a hydride reducing agent to produce an optically active 2-fluoroalcohol derivative.
