abstract To an SMA (or polymer actuator) in an imaging device having a drive unit that moves a driven object by a mechanism using tension of SMA (or polymer actuator) and an image display unit that displays an image. To provide an imaging device capable of preventing a sense of incongruity such as blurring or skipping of an image at the start of image display due to a shift in the position of a driven object before and after the start of energization. Prior to displaying an image picked up by an image pickup device on an image display unit, energization of an actuator typified by an SMA (or polymer actuator) used in a mechanism using tension is started. In addition, it is possible to provide an imaging apparatus that can prevent a sense of incongruity such as blurring or skipping of an image at the start of image display due to a shift in the position of a driven object before and after energization of an actuator.
