abstract | The present invention provides a carbon material having a piperidyl group-containing compound useful as a resin weathering agent, a secondary battery active material and stabilizer, an oxidation catalyst, and the like. A carbon material having an active hydrogen group is trimethylsilylated, and then a piperidyl group-containing epoxy compound represented by the following general formula (1) is graft-polymerized to the trimethylsilylated carbon material. A carbon material having a piperidyl group-containing compound represented by 2). (In the formula, X 1 represents a direct bond, an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, or an alkylene group that may contain —OCO— or —COO—, and X 2 represents a direct bond or an oxygen atom.
