abstract |
Provided is a heavy metal adsorbent which uses alginic acid having an excellent heavy metal adsorbing ability and does not elute the alginic acid from the agent. A heavy metal scavenger comprising a polyurethane obtained by reacting alginic acid as an at least part of an active hydrogen compound with an isocyanate compound having at least two isocyanato groups. The polyurethane is a foamed polyurethane. The polyurethane is a hydrophilic polyurethane. The heavy metal is lead. A method for producing a heavy metal scavenger comprising polyurethane, comprising a step of reacting alginic acid as an at least part of an active hydrogen compound with an isocyanate compound containing at least two isocyanato groups.
