abstract |
The present invention discloses a method for efficiently producing a fuel cell having a coated bipolar plate. The present invention contemplates laser welding together individual metal plates that have already been coated to form a bipolar plate for use in a fuel cell. Laser welding of the coated plate does not cause plate sensitization large enough to cause an undesirable level of corrosion resistance. This result is achieved regardless of the presence of the organic coating in the plate area to be welded and regardless of the removal of the organic coating by the laser beam. |
