The present invention relates to a process for preparing optically active α-amino acid substrates for use in preparing potent lethal factor (LF) inhibitors for the treatment of anthrax. The invention further relates to a process for the synthesis of potent LF inhibitors for the treatment of anthrax. Specifically, the present invention relates to a novel asymmetric hydrogenation reaction of tetra-substituted ene-sulfonamidic acids or esters with high yield and high enantioselectivity. |
