Polyol blended melt spun polyether TPU fibers and process |
abstract |
Thermoplastic polyether polyurethane polymers are disclosed, which are mixed with a crosslinking agent to achieve long run times in the melt spinning process to produce elastic fibers. This cross-linking agent is preferably a polyether or polyester polyol reacted with a diisocyanate. These thermoplastic polyether polyurethane polymers are produced by reacting: (1) a blend of two or more hydroxyl-terminated intermediates, where one intermediate is A polyether intermediate and has a higher number average molecular weight than the other polyether intermediate, wherein the weight average number average molecular weight of the blend is higher than 1200 Daltons; (2) at least one of Polyisocyanates; and (3) at least one hydroxyl-terminated chain extender. The disclosed melt spun fibers have excellent dye free capture, bleach resistance and color fixing. |
