Method of treating corneal transplant rejection by use of a VEGF antagonist |
abstract |
The present invention is based in part on the finding that administration of an agent that can block or inhibit vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) prevents corneal transplant rejection. Provided are methods for preventing, reducing or treating corneal transplant rejection to improve graft survival in a subject in need of preventing, reducing or treating corneal transplant rejection. The method includes administering an agent capable of blocking or inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). The method is useful for inhibiting or preventing corneal transplant rejection in a human subject who is the recipient of the transplanted cornea. |
