titleOfInvention | Reversible electrochemical sensor for polyions |
abstract | The present invention is directed to a reversible electrochemical sensor for polyions. The sensor uses electrochemically regulated positive ion attraction and ion stripping. Spontaneous polyion entrainment is suppressed by a membrane that does not have ion exchange properties and contains a highly lipophilic electrolyte. The reversible entrapment of polyions is triggered by constant current pulses of constant duration applied across the membrane. The polyion is then removed by applying a steady stripping potential. The sensor has excellent stability and reversibility, allowing heparin concentration measurement by protamine titration in whole blood samples. |
