A modified pro-α chain comprising a triple helix-forming domain linked to at least one N-terminal domain, wherein the N-terminal domain is a polypeptide from at least a portion of a laminin glycoprotein or a secreted leukocyte protease inhibitor Containing. The pro-α chain can form part of a procollagen molecule with a retained N-terminal domain. Procollagen molecules can be incorporated into collagen polymers, matrices, and gels and used for applications such as wound healing. |
