abstract |
Hydrocarbon adsorber for recovering volatile hydrocarbons originating from several sources and that may be released into the atmosphere through the engine air purifier when the automobile engine is stopped . This device is positioned in an air intake mechanism so that all of the air flowing through the engine passes through the device. The apparatus comprises a housing having an inlet and an outlet. The housing is filled with a substrate and a volatile hydrocarbon adsorbent covering the surface of the substrate. Such adsorbent may be silica gel, molecular sieve and / or activated carbon. The material further includes a binder that adheres the material to the surface of the substrate. |
