titleOfInvention | Switchable window based on electrochromic polymer |
abstract | The synthesis of a new blue EC monomer (ProDOT-MePro) and a new red EC monomer (ProDOP-Et2) is described. Two additional new types of EC monomers based on 3,4-alkylenedioxythiophenes include fluorinated EC monomers and silicon-containing EC monomers. An EC polymer device having a plurality of different color EC polymers is also described, as well as an EC polymer device incorporating a logo, image, or text so that subtractive color mixing can be used to provide additional colors Becomes opaque when the device is colored, but becomes visible when the device is not colored. Also described is an EC polymer device comprising a cathode EC polymer layer, a gel electrolyte, a counter electrode, and a reference electrode. Practical prototypes of such devices show a significant increase in the rate at which EC devices transition from a colored state to a transparent state. |
