Methods and apparatus for determining feline immunodeficiency virus infection or vaccination in animals. The method includes contacting a biological sample of a cat with various FIV polypeptides and determining the binding of antibodies and polypeptides in the sample. By measuring an animal's immune response to the FIV env polypeptide, it can be determined whether the animal is infected with FIV or has been vaccinated with FIV. An apparatus for detecting FIV antibodies is provided. |
