The transmembrane human protein, thrombomodulin (TM), represents a major anticoagulant mechanism as an important regulator of the protein C pathway. This mechanism operates in both normal and damaged blood vessels under physiological conditions in vivo. Disclosed are compositions and methods relating to derivatives and conjugates of thrombomodulin, including, for example, methods and compositions for site-specific PEGylation of truncated thrombomodulin derivatives. |
